Your summer is heating up already with the countdown to Love Island 2019 officially under way.
We know, it’s only April, but guess what? It’s time to start talking about the summer show (did we ever stop?) because filming kicked off this week.
Speaking on April 22, presenter Caroline Flack revealed that she was days away from “potentially” meeting the full cast of this year’s show.
So we’ve gathered together everything we know – or think we know – about the new series so far…
When is Love Island 2019?
ITV has yet to confirm a start date for the show, it’s length or – well – anything about the upcoming series but based on previous series start dates, we are taking a punt on Monday. June 3.
Last year’s series kicked off on Monday. June 4 at 9pm, so it would be reasonable to assume it will be the equivalent this year.
Another thing we don’t know is the length of the series, but the success of last year’s eight-week run means it is likely series five will follow suit. In that case, the grand final will be Monday, July 29.
So filming’s started then?
Yes! We know this one thanks to host Flack spilling the beans on her Instagram story as she went to the gym on Easter Monday.
“What’s really exciting about this week is that we start filming for Love Island 2019,” she told fans. “By the end of the week I am going to have potentially seen the cast for this year.
“That is really exciting and mad that it’s come around this quick, so I’ll let you know what happens. It’s going to be a long, hot summer and all that.”
Who’s in the cast?
So, back to things we don’t yet know. But the rumour mill is in full swing already.
Top of the list is former Big Brother star Lotan Carter, who was removed from the house for “unacceptable behaviour” in 2017.
Sources claimed to The Sun that Carter is hoping to “settle down” in the near future and would like to use the show to find his special somebody. They added that he has some “really good stories and make great TV”.
Other rumoured contestants include the UK’s youngest ever Euromillions winner Jane Park, who sources claim wants to find the “perfect guy”, and a slew of reality stars including Amelia Goodman, Ethan Allen and Ercan Ramadan.
What do they win?
If it’s anything like previous years, the winning couple will win £50,000. Well, one of them will and then they face the choice of whether to go home with the whole prize or share it with their co-winner.
