England has been in a second lockdown since Thursday, November 5 and today (Thursday, November 26) the UK Government has announced what Tier each part of the country will be in following the end of the lockdown.
But there has been some confusion surrounding when this second lockdown ends and when the new restrictions are introduced.
When does this second lockdown end?
According to the UK Government's website the restrictions which were introduced as part of a second lockdown on Thursday, November 5 will run 'until Wednesday, December 2.'
However some people are confused as to whether this means that shops and gyms, for example, will reopen on Wednesday, December 2 or on Thursday, December 3.
According to the BBC the lockdown will end just after midnight on Wednesday, December 2 - meaning they will come into force that morning.
And the Government website confirms that "the local restriction tier system that will be in place from Wednesday 2 December".
When do the new restrictions start?
So what happens when this lockdown is lifted and the new restrictions start? The new restrictions are broken down into Tier 1 (Medium), Tier 2 (High) and Tier 3 (Very High) and which areas were placed into what restrictions were announced by the UK Government today.

Therefore this means that when the lockdown ends just after midnight on Wednesday, December 2 then the new local tiered restrictions will come into place.
