Genshin Impact will soon be launching its next major update which will bring with it a new map addition, five-star character, and updates to the Genius Invokation TCG.
For the UK, version 3.4 will arrive on January 18. However, many players will be able to pre-install the essential files beforehand so they won't have to wait too long to jump right in.

New Characters
As with all new Genshin Impact banners, Version 3.4 will run in two phases, lasting around a month each. Hoyoverse has confirmed that the first phase will feature the debut of Alhaitham as well as a re-run of Xiao - it will also feature a brand new four-star, YaoYao.
The second phase will see the re-run of both Hu Tao and Yelan. With such a strong lineup, players will have a tough time deciding which characters to pull for as they are all essential lineups for any team.
Map update
As players continue to explore the Sumeru map, the new update will bring in a whole new area to the deserts with a much harsher climate being introduced. The Desert of Hadramaveth will feature a perpetual tornado which can produce sandstorms as well as home new enemies.
Lantern Rite
Coinciding with the Chinese New Year, Genshin fans will once again have the opportunity to celebrate the Lantern Rite festival and earn some rewards while they're at it. During the event a concurrent login event, May Fortune Find You, will give players the chance to earn 10 Intertwined Fates for no extra cost.
The event will also give players the chance to get one of nine four-star characters for free.
Arataki event
HoYoverse can't seem to get enough of its Inazuma star Aratki Itto as he will be returning in this update to host another event - the Almighty Aratai Extraordinary and Exhillirating Extreme Beetle Brawl which will see players take part in their own beetle fights.
Genius Invokation cards
After being introduced in Version 3.3 and proving to be a hit with fans, the Genius Invokation TCG will feature its first limited-time game mode that skips elemental dice rolling. Two new character cards will also be available to win in the game - Beidou and Klee.
New Quest
As with any five-star debut, Alhaitham will have his own story quest, Vultur Volans, presumably providing more backstory for his character following the events of the last Archon Quest.
Character Outfits
Two new character outfits will be made available in the game. Lisa's new outfit called A Sobriquet Under Shade will be available for free for a short amount of time via the Second Blooming event, while Ayaka's Springbloom Missive outfit will presumably be available from the item store.
