When does European transfer window close? LaLiga deadline day for Barcelona and Real Madrid

Real Madrid and Barcelona both still have potentially significant transfer business to conduct on Deadline Day across Europe.

Having brought Zinedine Zidane back into the dugout towards the end of a torrid 2018/19 season, Los Blancos started the summer on the front foot in the transfer window.

They agreed a deal to sign Brazilian centre-back Eder Militao from Porto before the season had ended and followed it by bringing in Ferland Mendy, Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard at a cost of well over £200million.

However, Zidane was unable to prise Paul Pogba away from Manchester United, interest in Tottenham's Christian Eriksen is yet to see a concrete bid and Gareth Bale went from being on the verge of an exit to starting the first three games of the season, scoring twice.

Barcelona have made some similarly important signings, with Frenkie de Jong and Antoine Griezmann arriving from Ajax and Atletico Madrid respectively.

Philippe Coutinho has initially turned down a return to the Premier League on loan before agreeing to join Bayern Munich, telling media at his unveiling that he hopes to stay for "many years".

And then, of course, there is the Neymar situation. Paris Saint-Germain were open to allowing the Brazilian to leave for the right price, with Barcelona keen to bring him back to Camp Nou but a move is now understood to be near-impossible.

From a Premier League perspective, Javier Hernandez is expected to complete a move to Sevilla, while Serie A outfit Roma have launched a late bid for Arsenal misfit Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
