When does Dancing on Ice 2022 start? Everything we know including start date, line-up and new judging panel

January doesn’t just mean busier gyms and cosy nights in - but the return of ITV’s Dancing on Ice.

If you’re struggling to get your celebrity fix after Strictly and I’m A Celeb, you’ll be pleased to know a new series of the figure skating show is just days away.

And if the confirmed lineup and brand new judging panel is anything to go by, we’re in for a real treat this year.

We’ve rounded up all there is to know about the new series.

When does it start?

Historically ITV’s Dancing on Ice kicks off in the first week of January, but this year fans are having to wait another week.

On Tuesday ITV confirmed the show will start on Sunday, January 16 at 6.30pm, with new episodes airing every Sunday.

It’s not yet been confirmed how Dancing on Ice will align with The Masked Singer, which is broadcast at 7pm each Saturday and 7.30pm each Sunday, also on ITV.

Who’s on the judging panel?

For the last two series the ‘ice panel’ of judges has consisted of Jayne Torvil and Christopher Dean, Ashley Banjo and John Barrowman.

But this year John Barrowman will not be making a return to the show. Taking his place will be Strictly pro Oti Mabuse.

“As a professional dancer I have always had so much respect for the skating professionals on Dancing on Ice,” she said, following the announcement of her new role.

“It’s an exceptional skill that is also so beautiful to watch.”

Who are the contestants?

The full lineup for this year's series was confirmed by ITV in October last year.

In the mix is former Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, Happy Mondays star Bez and Love Island favourite Liberty Poole.

Coronation Street's Sally Dynevor, ex-Strictly pro Brendan Cole and former S Club 7 singer Rachel Stevens will also be putting their skates on next weekend.

Other contestants include rugby player Ben Foden, dancer Regan Gascoigne, Olympic BMX rider Kye White, The Vamps' Connor Ball, Paralympic track and field athlete Stef Reid, and presenter Ria Hebden.

Who is presenting?

It wouldn't be Dancing on Ice without Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, who are returning for yet another year.

The This Morning duo originally hosted the series when it ran from 2006 to 2014 and also returned with it in 2018.
