When do the supermarkets close on Christmas Eve 2019?

Are you the type of person who stocks their fridge and kitchen cupboards well ahead of Christmas, or one of those who rushes round in the dying hours of December 24 to hunt down the last turkey in the shop ?

Well, there's no need to panic if you've forgotten some of the essentials you need to make the season of goodwill go with a swing, because we've got the times all the major supermarkets will be open until on Christmas Eve .

Here's everything you need to know. 

Aldi

Aldi is a budget friendly supermarket (Anthony Devlin/PA Wire)

Stores will be open from 8am until 6pm, before closing for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Branches will reopen on Friday December 27 at 8am.

The supermarket will be open to shoppers from 6am - 7pm.

Although closed on Christmas Day itself, Boxing Day will see trading resume at 9am until 6pm.

Lidl will be open from 8am until 6pm.

Stores will closed for Christmas Day and Boxing Day before reopening on Friday, December 27 as normal.

Morrisons have a great deal for OAPs (Graham Young / BirminghamLive)

This year Morrisons stores will be open between 6am and 6pm - with the same hours on Boxing Day. The supermarket will close its doors on Christmas Day, however.

Waitrose & Partners

Waitrose soup is being recalled (Hertfordshire Mercury)

If you do plan to pick up that last minute bottle of bubbly for the big day, you will have from 7am - 6pm on December 24 to grab one (or several).

Waitrose will close all stores for Christmas Day and Boxing day.

Christmas Eve opening times vary dependant on whether it's a Tesco Extra, Metro or Express.

Most stores are set to open from 6am/7am until around 7pm but some Express stores are set to close at 10pm.
