When do the Lions play against South Africa in the Test series?

The British and Irish Lions are in South Africa and face a series of challenges before their three-Test series against the Springboks.

A 28-10 warm-up win over Japan at Edinburgh saw Warren Gatland's men enjoy a productive run-out before the plane journey.

But when does the big Test series begin?

Tours these days are much shorter than they used to be, so there will be limited time to prepare to face the defending world champions.

There will be just five games in total before the series begins.

When do the British and Irish Lions play South Africa in Test series?

The Lions' first Test will take place in Cape Town on Saturday, July 24. Interestingly, there will be no midweek game, as there usually is, between the first and second Test.

So the tour rolls right into the second encounter between the two sides on Saturday, July 31, however this time it is being played in Johannesburg.

Then the final Test match, which could be all important, takes place on Saturday, August 7. Once again, it will be in Johannesburg.

Kick-off times for all three Test matches is 5pm UK time.

There had been reports that the Tests could all be moved to Cape Town amid heightened coronavirus restrictions, but this has not been confirmed.
