When do the clocks change and go back in 2021?

Despite it happening every year, many of us forget to change our clocks when the time comes and are often caught out.

Thankfully, computers, laptops, smartphones, and other technological devices adjust their time automatically - so, if you use your phone as your morning alarm you don't have to worry about being late for work or school (and probably can't use it as an excuse for being late).

Currently, the UK is following British Summer Time (BST), when the clocks go back it'll be changed to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

So when do the clocks actually go back this year and when will they go forward again?

This year, the clocks go back on a pretty easy date to remember, Halloween - Sunday, October 31.

On this date, you can enjoy a lie-in because there'll be an extra hour in the morning.

Unfortunately, this also means that it'll get darker sooner with the longest night of the year due a few days before Christmas on December 21 - the winter solstice.

As the UK moves away from BST for the year, we'll be back on the Daylight Savings Time (DST).

When will the clocks go forward again in 2022?

The clocks will go forward by an hour again in Spring of 2022 - unfortunately losing an hour in bed.

In Spring, there will also be shorter nights and more light during the day, which is something to look forward to after a long cold autumn and winter.

The move forward will happen on Sunday, March 27 as the time moves back into BST.
