Twice a week we publish the problems that will feature in a forthcoming Dear Jeremy advice column in the Saturday Guardian so that readers can offer their own advice and suggestions. We then print the best of your comments alongside Jeremy's own insights. Here is the latest dilemma – what are your thoughts?
When is best to tell a prospective employer that I wish to work from home but am willing to come to the office once or twice a week? I have built up three and a half years' experience working for a pharmaceutical company and now wish to apply for new roles within the industry. However, I live in the north-west of England and most of the vacancies are advertised as being office-based, usually in the south-east or abroad.
I don't want to move, although I am happy to travel. I know that some companies allow their staff to work from home and employees may be located across the country. Could I ask to work partly from home when I apply? At interview stage? Or should I wait until after the job offer has been made?
