Naga Munchetty brought some “childish chortles” to the breakfast table this morning when she probed her BBC co-host using a double-entendre.
The breakfast TV presenter was discussing new research which found that a quarter of Britain’s native mammal species are at risk of extinction, when she posed a personal question to her colleague Charlie Stayt.
“When did you last see a beaver?” she asked with a straight face.
“Well it’s probably been a while, if ever, in fact,” he replied, as the pair burst into giggles.
Beaver, while usually referring to a semi-aquatic animal, can also be used as a euphemism for a woman’s intimate area.
Twitter users responded to the mischievous moment with glee.
One wrote: “Childish chortle of the day thanks to Naga on BBC Breakfast.”
Another wrote: “Naga asking Charlie when he last saw a beaver makes me more proud to be British than I can say.”
