When did Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson make his England debut

Jordan Henderson's 45-minute cameo during England's final Euro 2020 group game against the Czech Republic brought up 60 caps in an England shirt for the Liverpool skipper.

Although some way off the captain he succeeded, Steven Gerrard, who ranked up 116 caps for the Three Lions, in the current crop of players in the camp, Henderson has the most caps with Kyle Walker and Harry Kane not far behind.

His appearance on Tuesday night was another step in the right direction for his comeback from an injury that saw him miss the final few months of the season.

But this coming November marks the 11-year anniversary of Henderson having the honour of putting on the England shirt for the very first time.

Fabio Capello was the manager who gave him his debut at Wembley, the then 64-year-old already had a Champions League, two La Liga's and five Italian championships under his belt by the time he took charge of England.

Henderson was called up after he displayed a good run of form for Sunderland in what was his final season with the Black Cats before his £16m move to Anfield.

The friendly against France came just months after England were soundly beaten in South Africa by Germany at the World Cup with Frank Lampard's goal, which crossed the line but wasn't given, stealing the headlines as a Thomas Muller brace saw them progress into the quarter-finals.

Henderson, who was 20 at the time, started against France and played the full 90 minutes alongside Gareth Barry in a 4-2-3-1 with future teammates James Milner, Steven Gerrard and Andy Carroll at left-wing, attacking midfield and striker respectively.

Carroll was also handed his debut after his impressive start to the season with Newcastle.

England were beaten 2-1 by Laurent Blanc's side as Peter Crouch's strike wasn't enough as Karim Benzema and Mathieu Valbuena handed Capello his final defeat before his departure a little under a year later.

Henderson has made 59 appearances since but has yet to score for England and came close in his last two appearances with his missed penalty against Romania and his offside goal against the Czech Republic.

The 31-year-old was a substitute when England beat Germany in a famous Round of 16 win at Euro 2020.
