When did Kevin Durant tell Bob Myers he was joining the Nets?

By now, most people have figured out that soon-to-be former Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant plans to join the Brooklyn Nets on a four-year, $164 million contract along with Kyrie Irving, who plans to agree to similar terms.

Although he was scheduled to announce his free agency decision on The Boardroom’s Instagram, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN just could not let that happen, instead dropping the news on his own Twitter account.

Durant joining the Nets turns the NBA’s world over on its head. With the Warriors controlling so much of the basketball world over the past few years, it provides a different outlook for the league’s future.

While the Warriors have likely been prepared for this decision, it still hurts to lose a two-time Finals MVP in Durant. Despite general manager Bob Meyers meeting with Durant and manager Rich Kleiman in New York for what seemed to be a last-ditch effort to keep Durant in the Bay, it was to no avail.

According to the aforementioned tweet, Durant officially told Meyers about his decision to go to Brooklyn during this meeting, and proceeded to tell the rest of the teams in contention about the decision later in the day.

Although Durant is expected to miss the next season recovering from his torn Achilles, the anticipation to see him and Irving together in uniform will be high.
