When did Boris Johnson have Covid - a timeline as police give statement over Downing Street party

Fresh allegations have surfaced regarding parties at No 10 Downing Street during lockdown in 2020.

According to an ITV report, invitees were sent an email and asked to 'bring your own booze' for an alleged garden party in the spring.

Reports suggest that the Prime Minister's private secretary Martin Reynolds invited more than 100 Downing Street employees to 'bring your own booze' for an evening gathering in May 20 2020 during the first coronavirus lockdown. Outdoor gathering were banned at the time.

The alleged event took place just five days after another event when Boris Johnson and Carrie were pictured in No 10 Garden with Downing Street officials having cheese and wine.

Police are now “in contact with the Cabinet Office” following the latest reports of the drinks party in the No 10 garden.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: “The Metropolitan Police Service is aware of widespread reporting relating to alleged breaches of the Health Protection Regulations at Downing Street on May 20 2020 and is in contact with the Cabinet Office.”

But this has left many wondering at what point was Boris Johnson infectious as he tested positive for Covid-19 in the spring, and if it clashed with the alleged parties.

You can read what the Covid rules were at the time of the alleged parties here.

When did Boris Johnson have Covid-19?

It was announced that Prime Minister Boris Johnson tested positive for coronavirus on March 27 2020, just four days after the UK's first lockdown was enforced.

By April 5, his symptoms had developed and was admitted to hospital for tests before moving to the intensive care unit.

It was first announced that Johnson had tested positive for Covid-19 on 27 March 2020, just four days after the imposition of the UK’s first strict lockdown.

On 5 April, with his symptoms persisting, he was admitted to hospital for tests, and was moved to the intensive care unit the next day after his condition worsened.

Johnson left hospital on April 12 to recover at Chequers for a fortnight, so it would be very unlikely that the Prime Minister would have been infectious on May 20.
