When Dani Ceballos could make his second Arsenal debut after sealing season-long loan move

Arsenal bolstered their midfield options with the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos on loan on Friday evening.

The Spaniard, who spent last season on loan at the Emirates Stadium, has rejoined the club on a season-long loan deal, becoming the club's fifth signing of the summer.

His return to North London follows on from the arrivals of Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares, who spent last season on loan at the Emirates Stadium, former Chelsea winger Willian and the £25million addition of Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille.

Ceballos' return to the Premier League will significantly strengthen Mikel Arteta's midfield options, with the Spaniard, who will take his side to Craven Cottage to face Fulham on the opening day of the new Premier League season next Saturday, having been eager to add a new midfielder to his ranks all summer.

Gabriel: a transfer worthy of excitement

Though Ceballos' return has added an extra body to the midfield area, Arteta remains keen on adding another midfielder to his squad, with Atletico Madrid midfield enforcer Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar of Lyon continuing to be linked with moves to England.

But even if Arteta was to add Partey or Aouar to his squad within the next seven days, they would both find themselves in the exact same position as Ceballos.

Due to the UK government's coronavirus measures, everyone arriving from Spain and France must self-isolate for 14 days.

That means that Ceballos will not be available for selection for next weekend's trip to Craven Cottage, with the same applying to both Partey and Aouar if they were to sign for Arsenal.

That will be a major blow to Arteta, as it means he will be unable to call upon his new recruit, or even get him involved in first-team training until a few days before the West Ham United game at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, September 20.

But with the Spaniard only likely to have had a few days training by that stage, he may not make his second Gunners debut until the clash with Liverpool the following weekend.
