When Celtic are expected to travel to Japan for 2023 pre-season tour

Celtic are set to tour Japan as part of their pre-season preparations.

It's no secret that the Scottish champions are looking to jet out to the far east this summer.

Reports first emerged last year that there would be a homecoming event for Ange Postecoglou in Japan for Celtic's pre-season in 2023.

The Hoops participated in a similar style event during the World Cup break in November, as they took to the pitch Down Under as Postecoglou briefly returned home to Australia.

However, now, it appears the Japan trip will take place in late July.

It's anticipated that the Hoops will contest friendly matches against Postetecoglou's former side Yokohama F. Marinos, as well as Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich.

Celtic's worldwide interest is nothing new. But Postecoglou's success at Parkhead has sparked spikes in both Japan and Australia.

Nikan Sports say both Celtic and City are expected in the country in late July as part of their final pre-season preparations.

Previous reports stated that City, PSG, and Bayern would also be taking part in a tournament, although the setup of this has yet to be determined.

Yokohama are owned by the City Football Group, with Manchester City also under the umbrella.

Pep Guardiola previously said after a trip: “Yokohama played some incredible football and they were an incredible test for us.

"I knew how good they were and it was tough for us. It was a great test. They had amazing quality, they were quick and technical."
