Liverpool's wait for a first Premier League title will go on for a few more days following Manchester City's win over Arsenal.
The reigning champions won their game in hand 3-0 on Wednesday night to close the gap on Jurgen Klopp's side to 22 points with nine games remaining.
City are the only side that can mathematically stop Liverpool from clinching their first Premier League trophy, and their first league championship in 30 years.
However, everything points towards Liverpool ending that three-decade wait for their 19th league title, and their first of the Premier League era.
How can Liverpool win the league?
Liverpool need a maximum of two wins from their final nine games to be crowned champions, regardless of how well City perform in the run-in.
City's win over Arsenal means Liverpool cannot win the league on Sunday when they go to Everton's Goodison Park for the Merseyside derby.
If the Reds beat Everton on Sunday, then they can wrap up the title at Anfield on Wednesday night when they take on Crystal Palace.
However, if City lose at home to Burnley on Monday night (and Liverpool beat Everton), then the Anfield side will be crowned champions that night without playing.
Manchester United currently hold the record for the earliest Premier League title win, wrapping up the 2000/01 championship with five games to spare.
Liverpool can blow that out the water by winning it with eight or seven games left to play, depending on theirs and City’s results.
