When can I watch Meghan Markle's new movie - and what is it about?

Meghan Markle is returning to her showbiz roots following her departure from the royal family and has booked her first movie job.

The Duchess of Sussex will provide the narration for a new Disney documentary called Elephant.

It is being made for the company's new streaming channel Disney+ and will be available to watch from April 3.

Bosses at the Disneynature channel made the announcement on  Twitter, writing: "Disneynature’s Elephant, an Original Movie narrated by Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, starts streaming April 3, only on  #DisneyPlus."

A trailer for Elephant reveals the film "follows one family's extraordinary 1,000 mile journey across Africa on an adventure that will change their lives".

The promotion image for the show shows a baby elephant between the legs of a fully grown one.

Elephant is being launched alongside another documentary called Dolphin Reef, narrated by Hollywood star Natalie Portman.

Meghan was a successful actress, best known for her role as Rachel Zane in Suits, before marrying Prince Harry and becoming part of the Royal family.

She had been tipped to return to the entertainment industry after the couple confirmed plans to break away and step down as senior royals.

There has already been plenty of speculation that Meghan's first movie role post-royal would be with Disney.

Back in July,  Prince Harry  appeared to pitch his wife's voice over skills to Walt Disney Company chief executive  Bob Iger, saying Meghan was 'interested' in that kind of role.

The bizarre moment was caught on camera, and the Duke can be seen pointing to Meghan - who was engaged in conversation with  Beyoncé  at the time - and asking Iger: "You know she does voiceovers?"

An astonished Iger responds by saying "Oh, really?" before Harry repeats: "Did you know that?"

Meghan and Harry have moved to Canada with their son Archie and will start their new lives away from the royal family on April 1.
