Ireland's booster rollout programme is becoming more important with each day as the Omicron variant starts to surge.
Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has said the new variant now accounts for 27% of daily cases.
This day last week, that stood at 1%.
However, there is better news on the hospitals front, with the number of patients now at the lowest point since mid-October.
Over 1.2 million vaccine booster doses have been handed out so far by the HSE.
We're expected an increase in that number in the next few weeks as new advice from the National Immunisation Advisory Committee to speed up the rollout.
Here's the latest from the HSE.
Who is getting a booster dose now?
We are currently offering a booster dose to:
- people aged 50 and older
- those living in a nursing home or a long-term healthcare facility
- healthcare workers
- people aged 16 to 49 with an underlying condition

Who will get a booster next?
Booster doses will soon be offered to people aged:
- 16 years and older who are pregnant
- 16 to 49 - in stages with older age groups being called first
How long to wait before getting a booster
You need to wait 3 months (at least 90 days) after your vaccine course before you can get a booster.
How to get your booster
You do not need to register for a booster dose.
There are three ways to get your booster:
- wait for your appointment to get a booster at a vaccination centre - we will send you a text message
- go to a walk-in booster clinic - when they are open for your age group
- book an appointment with a participating pharmacy - when your age group is getting vaccinated
