When Butlin's, Center Parcs, Haven and Parkdrean Resorts could open up

Leaving your house and being allowed to go on holiday might still feel like a distant dream, but some people are already making plans for when lockdown restrictions are eased.

No date has been set for when international or UK travel for leisure reasons will be allowed, but some holiday parks have already hinted at plans for their long-anticipated reopening.

Boris Johnson is expected to set out a 'roadmap' of a way out of lockdown on February 22, so we should have a better knowledge of what we can book then.

But around that date, it is anticipated prices could rocket, so you might want to get in early, reports Cambridgeshire Live.

February half-term would normally be a busy time for UK resorts like Butlin's and Centre Parcs. But like most businesses, they are closed and waiting for instructions from the government on when they can reopen.

During a Downing Street press conference on Monday, experts said it is too early to start planning summer holidays (February 8).

Professor Jonathan Van-Tam, deputy chief medical officer for England, said he could not give a proper answer on holidays as the data is not yet available.

He said any easing of lockdown restrictions in England would have to take place “gradually” and contemplating what will happen in summer is stepping into the realm of a guessing game.

Here is everything we know so far about when holiday parks COULD open:

Away Resorts

Away Resorts has closed all of its parks "until at least February Half Term and until we receive a further Government announcement".

The company is offering affected holidaymakers the option to rebook to new dates or opt for a full refund.

You can find out more on the Away Resorts website.

Butlin's

Butlin's has closed all of its resorts until February 28.

The company said it made the decision 'due to the uncertainty around when the current restrictions will be lifted'.

Affected holidaymakers have been contacted via email, text or a letter. Options being offered include rebooking the same trip for 2022, moving to another break in 2021 or receiving a full refund.

You can find out more on the Butlin's website.

Center Parcs

Center Parcs is keeping its UK villages closed until at least March 7, 2021.

The holiday park giant said it made the decision following "indications from the government that restrictions will continue into March".

Affected holidaymakers are being contacted with instructions for cancelling activities and restaurant reservations. The company is also those affected a choice between rescheduling with a discount of up to £100 off or cancelling to receive a full refund.

You can find out more on the Center Parcs website.

Forest Holidays

Forest Holidays has said all of its locations will remain temporarily closed until the government confirms holiday parks can re-open.

  • England locations are temporarily closed until at least March 8
  • Scotland locations are temporarily closed until at least March 1
  • Wales park Beddgelert is temporarily closed until at least February 8

The company is working to assist those who are due to travel within the next few weeks, with options including rebooking a trip or receiving a full refund.

You can find out more on the Forest Holidays website.

Haven

Haven closed its parks early for the 2020 season due to England's second lockdown but is looking to reopen to holidaymakers in March, although it has said this will be dependent on the government guidelines nearer the time.

You can find out more on the Haven website.
