When are the World Cup 2022 playoffs as Scotland take a major step towards Qatar

Another qualifying campaign, another play-off - Scotland fans could certainly get used to this.

Steve Clarke 's side saw off Moldova on Friday night to guarantee themselves second place in Group F and take another step towards Qatar 2022.

But the journey to next year's World Cup isn't over yet, far from it.

Scotland must navigate a further two fixtures if it's to be successive tournament appearances after two decades in the wilderness came to an end at Euro 2020.

The new play-off format incorporates a one-legged semi-final followed by a final for the right to compete on the biggest stage of them all.

Scotland join nine other group runners-up plus two teams entering from the Nations League to contest the final spots across three paths.

Here's all you need to know about the fixtures.

When will the draw be made?

The semi-final ties will be revealed on Friday, November 26.

The draw is set to commence at 4pm UK time.

When will the fixtures be played?

The semi-final ties will be played on March 24 and 25, 2022.

Scotland's exact date and kick-off time will be confirmed after the draw.

If Clarke's men progress, the finals will be held across March 28 and 29.

Where will they be played?

For the semi-finals, that's yet to be decided.

The six best runners-up will be seeded for the draw and will therefore take home advantage, but the final lineup will only be known after the last round of group fixtures.

For the final, a random draw will decide which nation gets to host.
