When are the PFA Awards 2019, the latest odds and shortlist revealed as Hazard aims for gong

Liverpool Mohamed Salah took home the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year award in 2018 and his team-mate Virgil van Dijk is looking to follow his footsteps this time around.

Virgil van Dijk has been an outstanding performer for Jugen Klopp's table topping side.

His arrival has transformed the Anfield side into a fierce defensive unit who only conceded 20 goals this season - the best in the Premier League.

His main competitor will come from title rivals Manchester City with Raheem Sterling expected to be in the running. The England international has been a huge part of Pep Guardiola's side this season as he steps up his game. It's set to be close run battle for the award.

When are the PFA Awards 2019?

The award ceremony will take place on Sunday, April 28.

The 46th edition of the event will celebrate the performances of some standout players from the season.

The PFA Young Player of the Year will also be announced, as well as the divisional teams of the year from each division.

Another award presented on the evening will be the PFA Merit Award.

Who is on the PFA shortlist?

Virgil Van Dijk, Raheem Sterling, Sadio Mane, Sergio Aguero, Bernado Silva and Eden Hazard.

Who votes in the PFA Awards and how does it work?

Every member of the PFA is given a vote in the different categories

A representative from the association will head to all 92 league clubs and the ten Women's Super League clubs to deliver ballot papers.

Players are not allowed to vote for their team-mates. They will then return the form to the PFA representative who will seal the vote.

An independent company is used to count and verify the votes

Who won it last year?

Mo Salah was named PFA Player of the Year ahead of Man City's Kevin De Bruyne and Tottenham's Harry Kane.
