When are the October school holidays in Northern Ireland?

It feels like they only just went back to school, but another school holiday will be coming up before we know it.

For some parents, this is great news - a chance to take the kids somewhere sunny when travel restrictions have eased across Northern Ireland.

But for many others, it's a case of finding someone to look after them or keeping them entertained for another few days!

Either way, it's important to keep up-to-date with when the school holidays are taking place.

School pupils in Northern Ireland will only get a short break in October.

They will have Thursday, October 28 and Friday, October 29 off school, and enjoy Halloween over the weekend, before returning to classrooms on Monday, November 1.

Christmas will be the next and last time they take a break from school this year. They will be on holiday from Thursday, December 23 to Monday, January 3.

What are the new travel rules?

International travel from Northern Ireland will soon become a lot easier, after new rules were agreed by the NI Executive.

The Executive have agreed some changes to travel rules will come into force from 4am on Monday, October 4, including the removal of pre-departure test requirements for those who are fully vaccinated, and changes to the traffic light system.

Reacting to the upcoming changes, Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said this is a "welcome step towards normality".

Fnd out more about the new travel rules.
