When are the League Two fixtures released? Confirmed reveal time and date for Bolton Wanderers

The new League Two season is only a matter of weeks away from starting.

The fourth tier of English football is due to return around September 12 for the 2020/21 campaign.

Of course, it has not been long since the 2019/20 season in the EFL and in particular the Championship was concluded at long last due to an extension into early August in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

The action was postponed from mid-March due to the global health crisis and only returned from mid-June behind closed doors with fans watching from home in the second tier.

But in Leagues One and Two, only the play-offs took place in both divisions with the final league standings calculated on a points per game basis.

It confirmed Bolton's relegation to League Two for the 2020/21 season, along with Southend United and Tranmere Rovers.

Barrow won promotion from the National League, while Harrogate Town booked their place in the EFL by beating Notts County in the play-off final.

Moving out of League Two and into League One automatically are Swindon Town, Crewe Alexandra and Plymouth Argyle, while Northampton Town sealed promotion via the play-offs.

Macclesfield Town lost their place in League Two after being handed several points deductions, taking the place of Stevenage, who earned a reprieve due to the punishments handed to the Silkmen.

So now all attention is on the 2020/21 campaign – but when will the fixtures be released?

The schedule in the Championship, League One and League are due to be revealed from 9am on Friday, August 21.

It will be done the day after the Premier League fixtures have been released.

The league season itself will begin on the weekend of September 12, with Wanderers set to be in action the previous weekend for Ian Evatt's first competitive match in charge of Wanderers in the Carabao Cup first round against Bradford City.
