We've already been to the polling stations once this month for the local elections - and we will have to go again to cast our vote in the European elections 2019.
With the big delay on Brexit and now an extension until the end of October, we’ll now have a say in the EU parliamentary polls in voting for which party and its candidates we’d like to represent us.
Some may question why we’re even taking part when we are trying to leave the EU, however if we don’t vote now, the UK would be in breach of its democratic obligations.
A cross-party Brexit deal still needs to pass Parliament, and if it does go ahead as planned before the October deadline, who knows how long it will take for the EU divorce deal to officially come to terms?
When is the European election 2019?
The voting date is different for a lot of EU countries, however the UK will take to the polls along with the Netherlands on Thursday May 23.
Voters will be asked to choose which party and their candidates they’d like to take a seat in the European parliament. The people of the North West will be voting to elect eight Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) to represent the region within the EU.
Although we vote on May 23, the voting doesn't close until May 26, and the European parliament does not sit for the first time until July 2.
The mainstream parties, including Labour and Conservative, are still in the running but we’re hearing more and more about Change UK - The Independent Group and The Brexit Party, who are also in the running to represent.
