The second tier of English football is due to return around September 12 for the 2020/21 campaign.
Of course, it has not been long since the 2019/20 season was concluded at long last due to an extension into early August in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
The action was postponed from mid-March due to the global health crisis and only returned from mid-June behind closed doors with fans watching from home.
The last season saw Leeds United promoted to the Premier League after an absence of 16 years, and they were joined in automatic promotion by West Bromwich Albion.
The play-offs saw Fulham eventually emerge triumphant, defeating fellow London side Brentford in the final to win back a place in the Premier League at the first time of asking after suffering relegation in the 2018/19 campaign.
Taking their place in the Championship will be Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich City who all suffered relegation from the Premier League, the former two on the final day of the season.
Winning promotion to the second tier from League One automatically were Coventry City and Rotherham United.
Wycombe Wanderers earned their place in the Championship via the play-offs and beat Oxford United 2-1 in the final.
These three teams take the place of Hull City, Charlton Athletic and Wigan Athletic who were relegated from the second tier.
The Latics were relegated after having 12 points deducted from their total due to entering administration, which demoted them from a finishing position of 13th and plunged them into the drop zone.
So now all attention is on the 2020/21 campaign – but when will the fixtures be released?
The schedule in the Championship, League One and League are due to be revealed from 9am on Friday, August 21.
It will be done the day after the Premier League fixtures have been released.
