When are the bank holidays in 2021? All the public holidays left in England and Wales

Bank holidays give Brits a well-earned break every couple of months.

The extra day or two sees most people head to their local beach or park to soak up the sunshine or catch up with family and friends.

And as lockdown restrictions ease, allowing staycations, trips abroad and socialising, Brits will want to savour each and every extended weekend.

There are three more bank holidays to look forward to this year.

We've rounded up all of them for 2021, so you can plan your social calendar.

Christmas Day and Boxing Day this year fall on Saturday and Sunday.

If a bank holiday is on a weekend, a ‘substitute’ weekday becomes a bank holiday, normally the following Monday.

Your employer doesn’t have to give you paid leave on bank or public holiday and bank holidays might affect how and when your benefits are paid.

This year, the Christmas bank holidays will be "observed" on December 27 and 28.

Bank holidays 2021 in England and Wales

Monday, August 30 - Summer bank holiday

Monday, December 27 - Christmas Day (substitute day)

Tuesday, December 28 Boxing Day (substitute day)
