What about the 2022 World Cup?
The 2022 FIFA World Cup is different in itself as it is the first edition of the tournament to not take place during the summer, with it instead taking place between November and December this year.
This means that there will be a month-long break from Premier League football when the World Cup takes place from November 21 - December 18, and players will join up with their nations from Monday, November 14.
The last round of Premier League fixtures ahead of the World Cup are expected to take place on the weekend of November 12-13, while matches will resume on Boxing Day (December 26), eight days after the final in Qatar.

Other key dates
Due to the World Cup in December, there will be just one international break ahead of the tournament rather than two, in order to offer an extra weekend to fulfil Premier League fixtures. There will be the usual international break in September, but not in October.
Following the World Cup, international breaks in the second half of the season are expected to take place as normal, which is expected to be in March, 2023.
The 2022/23 Premier League season will see its final round of fixtures take place on Sunday, May 28, 2023, in which they will all share the same kick-off time, as they normally would.
When does the current season end?
The current 2021/22 Premier League season is still ongoing and there are seven rounds of fixtures to go for the majority of sides, with the final round of fixtures taking place on Sunday, May 22, with all games kicking-off at 4pm.
