Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know by now that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged. It’s the news that simultaneously interrupted live broadcasts and sent Swifties into a meltdown; as one viral tweet said, this is the closest to a royal wedding America will get.
So when, exactly, are Taylor and Travis getting married? And what do we know about this wedding? Spoiler: not a whole lot just yet, but let’s go wild with some clutching at straws.
Taylor and Travis announced their engagement via a collab post on Instagram early this morning, with the caption: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨”.
Mother wore a striped Ralph Lauren dress (that’s already almost sold out) for the couple’s big moment, as well as Louis Vuitton heels and a Cartier watch. And hey, the outfit was fit for a fiancée. It’s gonna be bridal wardrobe from here on out.
Kelce proposed to Swift in a lush garden filled with all sorts of roses and flower bushes. It’s a dreamy, mega romantic setup.
Hell, I’d say yes in a heartbeat.
The garden setup also was very reminiscent of Swift’s Lover era, where she sat in a floral garden, surrounded by pink flowers and statues.
In fact, Kelce’s dad Ed Kelce told Aussie radio show, 2Day FM’s The Jimmy & Nath Show with Emma, that the proposal happened right in Travis Kelce’s backyard.
“That’s a garden in his house. He surprised her with that,” Ed Kelce said.
The fact that he set up his own garden like that makes it so much more special.
When did Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce start dating?
The couple started dating two years ago in 2023. It all started when Kelce voiced his disappointment in not meeting Swift at her Eras Tour concert on his podcast, New Heights.
Two months after, Swift was spotted at a Kansas City Chiefs game. From there, she kept popping up at his games.
Swift confirmed the relationship to Times magazine in December 2023. Since then, they’ve been one of the most talked about celebrity couples — and that’s clearly not slowing down any time soon.

Considering the couple literally got engaged a matter of hours ago, no wedding date has been confirmed as of yet.
Whether Swift and Kelce reveal the date once they start planning the wedding or surprise us all with a Vogue wedding feature is yet to be determined, but no doubt outgoing editor-in-chief Anna Wintour already has Taylor’s publicist Tree Paine on the blower.
No doubt, Swift will litter a bunch of Easter eggs that’ll keep her fans guessing.
Taylor Swift fans are already theorising about the engagement day in relation to her favourite number — 13. We know she loves numerology, and Kelce proposed to Swift on August 26 (US time), and what’s 13+13? 26, baby.
It was also 13 days prior when she went on Kelce’s podcast to announce her new album, The Life Of A Showgirl.

Fans are speculating that the wedding won’t be held after the 2025 NFL season comes to an end on 8 February, 2026. It kicks off in two weeks time, so Kelce will be full steam ahead with football.
There’s also rumours circulating that Taylor Swift is the performing artist for the 2026 Super Bowl, as she’s been dropping a sleuth of comments about her love for sourdough (and San Francisco’s 49ers are represented by mascot Sourdough Sam).
Plus, with Swift dropping her upcoming album on 3 October, it looks like there’s a bunch of other big life moments the couple needs to weed through before they start planning their upcoming nuptials.
