Two of the biggest summer events in Newcastle, without a doubt have to be Plate Day and Ladies Day at Newcastle Racecourse.
Both occasions attract throngs of people to Gosforth, to have a flutter and a big day out, with Geordie lads and lasses dressing to the nines to look the part while they hopefully win plenty of money.
Tickets are already on sale for this year’s events but if you’re wanting them in your diary, here are the dates you need to know.
When is Plate Day this year?
The three-day Northumberland Plate Festival concluding with Plate Day is on Saturday, June 29.
This is the most famous race meeting of the year at Newcastle, featuring the Stobart Rail & Civils Northumberland Plate a two-mile heritage handicap worth £150,000, making it the richest two-mile handicap in Europe.
This year Madness are playing a gig after the race, included in the ticket price - from £38 to £150. Raceday Essentials, Premier and Prosecco packages are sold out.
When is Ladies Day this year?
Now firmly established as the highlight of the social calendar in the North East, Ladies Day is the perfect setting to enjoy a day out with your friends and family. The most glamorous race day of the flat season combines an exciting day of fashion, fillies and of course a glass of fizz.
Dressing to impress is highly recommended on Ladies Day, as the Best Dressed Lady competition will once again be centre stage during the afternoon.
This year it will take place on Saturday, July 27 and tickets are priced from £35 to £144.
