With the festive season round the corner, schools will soon be breaking up for Christmas.
The school Christmas holidays usually lasts for two week and kids will need to be entertained between Christmas and Hogmanay.

And we'll spare a thought to the teenagers who may still have coursework to squeeze in over the break.
This year seems to have flown by, so going into next year, it wouldn't hurt to be prepared for the school breaks now.
Whether you're jetting off for some winter sun or having a quiet one in the house this Christmas, here are the upcoming school holidays and inservice days for the rest of the year and 2022, according to Edinburgh City Council.
Christmas school holidays
School finishes up on December 17 for Christmas.
Kids will return back on Thursday January 6 2022 to start their spring term.
Spring
Term starts Thursday 6 January 2022.
Mid term holidays
Monday 14 to Friday February 18 2022, mid term break.
Term ends Friday April 8 2022.
Easter holidays
Monday April 11 to Friday 22 2022.
Children will go back to school on Monday April 25 2022.
Inservice days 2022 in Edinburgh
- Monday May 2 2022, May Day.
- Tuesday May 3 2022, staff only day.
- Thursday June 2 2022, Platinum Jubilee (changed from May 23 Victoria Day).
- Friday June 3 2022, Platinum Jubilee.
Summer holidays 2022
Schools in Edinburgh will break up on Friday July 1 2022 for summer which marks the end of the school term.
Summer holidays for 2022 run from Monday July 4 2022-Tuesday August 16 2022.
Children will go back to school to start their next year on Wednesday August 17 2022.

From August 17 2022, the kids will be in their next year of school, with a fresh uniform and some will be facing their first exams.
