When are Boots and Superdrug open during the coronavirus lockdown?

Several retailers across the country have changed their opening times amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Among the stores with new opening hours are supermarkets, bike shops and pharmacies - including Boots and Superdrug.

The high street chemists have been considered as essential retailers by the government and are allowed to stay open during the coronavirus outbreak.

However, both stores have reduced the amount of services they offer and are operating different trading hours.

Here are when Boots and Superdrug stores are open during the crisis.

Boots

(PA)

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, Boots stores are changing their opening hours as they see necessary.

The retailer has closed its opticians and hearing care stores, but the main stores are still open.

Customers will need to check the online store locator tool to find out the the opening times of their nearest store. It might also be worth calling up the store to avoid wasting a trip.

To ensure everyone has access to the items they need, Boots has limited sales of:

• Products containing paracetamol

• Pain relief

• Cough & cold products

• Children's medicine

• Thermometers

• Tissues & wipes

• Hand sanitisers, soap & handwash

• Feminine hygiene

• Baby milks

• Baby sterilising & antibacterial products

Superdrug

(PA)

Superdrug has reduced its opening hours and only some stores will be open between 10am and 5pm.

The retailer is aiming to keep as many stores open as possible during lockdown, but has also said that shops won't open if there isn't enough staff to operate the shops safely.

All testers, such as make up, have also been removed from stores.

Customers are advised to call their nearest store directly to confirm they are open. You can find out your nearest store by using the online store locator.

Peter Macnab, Superdrug CEO, wrote in a letter to customers that the team is “working hard to ensure that Superdrug can continue to make essential products, like baby milk, nappies, hand wash, sanitiser, general medicines, pharmacy prescriptions and OTC medicines, available”.

“People rely on us for over one million healthcare products a week and it’s for these customers that we’ve stayed open,” he said.

Boots and Superdrug are both still offering online services deliveries but there may be some delays in orders due to the increase in demand.

If you're planning to do some food shopping, many supermarkets in the UK have new rules and opening hours for certain groups during the coronavirus outbreak.
