When and what time is Salford Mayor election result due?

The election for Salford's new mayor takes place on Thursday - however the results won't be known until a few days after.

This year's vote is taking place on the same day as local council elections and the Greater Manchester mayoral election.

Six candidates will be on the ballot paper and it will be the third time Salford has taken to the polls to choose a mayor.

They are in alphabetical order:

  • Paul Dennett - Labour
  • Arnold Saunders - Conservative
  • Jake Overend - Liberal Democrats
  • Wendy Olsden - Green Party
  • Stephen Stuart Ord - Independent
  • Stuart Cremins - Independent

Counting of the votes for Salford mayor doesn't begin until two days after the vote - on the morning of Saturday, May 8.

Then the results are expected by mid-afternoon on Saturday.
