When and what time do universities get A-level results?

A level results day 2020 is already upon us.

And as students know, the summer didn't quite work out as they expected.

Exams were cancelled this year and those working on their A levels will have their grades based on predicted outcomes rather than the typical paper examinations.

Many students will be relying on these grades to secure their university spot if this is the route they have chosen to take.

Students have also been told they will be able to use valid mock results as part of a so-called “triple lock” approach.

A level results day is on Thursday, August 13, and pupils will be able to go to their schools or college to find out how they did.

In terms of when your chosen university will get your results, only exams office staff and heads can view A level results before they're widely released to candidates.

From 12.01am on the day before - with the Wednesday known as restricted release day - results are available from exam boards such as the AQA (Assessment and Qualifications Alliance) and OCR (Oxford Cambridge and RSA).

However, at this stage, these results must be treated as confidential by universities and exam offices.

UCAS Track will be available to view at around 8am on results day. After it's been updated, it will become 'frozen' and your page won't change again until midday at the earliest.

And while you'll be eager to know whether you have been accepted or not, it is worth waiting it a little while.
