A man has been charged with dangerous driving after officers discovered his vehicle was missing a tyre on the busy A9.
The motorist was stopped near Perth on Wednesday, February 17, after police became concerned about the state of the car.
Police Scotland’s Tayside Division shared a shocking picture of the rusty white vehicle which had no rubber left on the wheel trim.
The driver has since been charged and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
The offending motor has also been banned from the road.
Inspector Greg Burns, of Tayside Road Policing Unit, said: “Our officers could not believe it when they saw this vehicle yesterday.
“This vehicle should not have been driven in the condition it was in.
“The man put himself and other road users at huge risk by driving the car in this condition. “He was missing a tyre and it is lucky that no-one was hurt.
“It is a driver's responsibility to ensure that their vehicle is safe to drive and if it’s not, then don’t drive it.”
Facebook users reacted with a mix of fury and hilarity at the driver’s dangerous antics.
One wrote: “That’s wheely dangerous.”
Another said: “Is that the new invisible Michelins?”
A third added: “Nothing to see here.”
And a fourth said: ‘That’s hellish. Why would anyone drive with wheel arches that rusty?”
