Wheelchair user suffers 'threatening behaviour' on Edinburgh street

A woman who uses a wheelchair suffered "threatening behaviour" on an Edinburgh street, prompting police to appeal for information.

The incident took place on Oxgangs Avenue around midday on Sunday, June 2.

The 53-year-old victim was comforted by a passing member of the public afterwards, though further details have not been released.

Police Scotland now wish to speak to the man who helped the wheelchair user. He had been walking his dog at the time and stepped in to comfort her afterwards.

A spokeswoman for the force said inquiries were ongoing into the incident.

Outraged locals condemned the incident on social media, with one writing: "This behaviour should not be tolerated, bullying of any sort should not be tolerated. I hope this witness can be located and this individual is punished."

Anyone with information has been asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 1986 of 2nd June 2019.
