Wheel of Fortune to return after 22 years with huge star hosting iconic show

Wheel of Fortune is set to return to our screens with Graham Norton handed hosting duties.

The iconic gameshow was hugely popular in the 90s and aired on UK television between 1988 and 2001.

Bosses are going all out for the programme's latest comeback with the chat show great agreeing to oversee the spinning.

Irish telly host Graham has confirmed he will front the return when it comes to ITV1 and ITVX in 2024 and says he is going back to his early career roots.

It will once again be centred around a giant carnival wheel as the contestants spin to win for a life-changing cash prize.

She also worked with Bradley Walsh on Wheel of Fortune (No Name)

Based on the successful global brand, the show will be hosted by BAFTA award winner and produced by Whisper North, part of the Sony Pictures Television group.

The eight-part run will include two celebrity specials and fans will be thrilled Wheel of Fortune is hitting screens again next year.

Graham said: “I’m beyond excited to be bringing such an iconic American show to a new British audience.

"My first ever TV job was a game show on ITV so this feels like coming full circle. You might even call it a wheel!”

Katie Rawcliffe , the Head of Entertainment Commissioning at ITV, is delighted with the big-name booking.

She said: “We are thrilled to have the much loved Graham Norton bringing this iconic game show to our viewers. Anything can happen on the spin of a wheel, it is going to be so much fun.”

During its years on TV, the show was hosted by Nicky Campbell, Bradley Walsh, John Leslie and Paul Hendy.

The pressure is on as contestants could lose everything at a spin of a wheel which contains ‘bankrupts’ and ‘lose a turn’ and the contestants' entire winnings could be wiped out.

In addition to cash, they can also win some impressive prizes which are added to their cash pot to help them reach the bonus round.

Everything is up for grabs but only one lucky contestant will get the chance to add big money to their cash pot and see if they can take it home.
