Moment suspect storms past security checkpoint at White House Correspondents’ Dinner

This is the moment an armed suspect charged a security checkpoint at the White House Correspondents Dinner, where President Donald Trump was in attendance, before being shot.

The assailant, who opened fire near the Hilton hotel screening area, was quickly apprehended. The president, first lady and “all protectees” are safe, the Secret Service said in a statement.

The shooter has been identified as Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old man from Torrance, California, according to The New York Times, citing two law enforcement officials familiar with the matter.

President Trump posted video of the security footage on Truth Social and praised the response of the Secret Service at a press conference at the White House.
