WhatsApp: New feature could show users what friends really think about them

WhatsApp is set to issue a major update that will allow users to see what people think of their messages.

A new feature being rolled out suggests users of the app will soon be able to "react" to messages, with similar functions already available on Facebook, Instagram and iMessage,

iPhone and iPad users of WhatsApp will soon be given the option to "manage react notifications" within their settings - suggesting the react function is not far away.

Android and other users will likely see the feature rolled out in the near future.

WhatsApp insiders WABetaInfo said: "WhatsApp is rolling out settings to manage notifications for reactions, but it’s not possible to react to messages.

"But the fact that it’s possible to manage these settings suggests that message reactions will be available very soon."

There are other new features predicted to be added to the messaging platform in 2022, according to 91mobiles.com

These include hiding your "last seen" from specific contacts, Instagram reels, and a "read later" folder.

There are currently more than 40 million WhatsApp users in the UK.
