WhatsApp is 'continuing to work on Dark Mode' as users grow impatient at delay

From Instagram to YouTube, most popular smartphone apps now have an option for ‘Dark Mode’.

As the name suggests, dark mode changes the background colour of the app window to black, making it much easier on the eyes - particularly when using your phone in the evening.

One of the few popular apps yet to introduce the feature is WhatsApp , and fans are growing impatient at the delay.

Now, a report by WABetaInfo suggests that WhatsApp is ‘continuing to work’ on the feature.

The report explained: “WhatsApp is working on this feature in the recent few updates, in order to ensure the best bug-free experience for you. WhatsApp is continuing to add new features for the Dark Theme before the release.”

WABetaInfo has discovered Dark Theme in the 2.19.366 beta version of the app, including a new layout that uses a yellow colour for text.

However, a launch date for the feature remains unclear.

WABetaInfo added: “Unfortunately it’s not known a release date for the Dark Theme, but we are constantly working to see when it’s released and we will inform you when available!”

Over on Twitter , many WhatsApp users have vented their frustrations at the lack of Dark Mode in WhatsApp.

One user tweeted: “Genuinely can’t stand the sight of whatsapp, everything on my phone is in dark mode now this white junk is just there.”

Another added: “I’ve officially given up on expecting @WhatsApp dark mode. Y’all playing games.”

Mirror Online has contacted WhatsApp for comment.
