US and Iranian officials have begun talks in Switzerland, just five days into a 60-day ceasefire agreement that already appears under strain. Tehran claims it has closed the Strait of Hormuz, citing the continued fighting in Lebanon, while Washington says the talks are focused on ending Iran's nuclear weapons ambitions and securing a lasting end to the conflict

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most strategically important waterways, carrying a significant share of global oil and gas exports. Questions are growing over how Iran's warnings could affect commercial shipping and regional security.
