'What you want' - Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain makes Liverpool admission after Porto victory

Liverpool's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain says his recent form has been helped by a consistent run in the team after he played 82 minutes of the 2-0 win over Porto.

The midfielder has now made 14 appearances in all competitions this season and has started the last four games.

After featuring just 17 times across the entirety of the 2020-21 campaign, it has been a healthy return for the 28-year-old.

And following a solid performance in the Champions League victory over Porto at Anfield on Wednesday night, Oxlade-Chamberlain admitted the game time has helped his rhythm.

“You want to play as much as you can," he told BT Sport post-match.

"Games in succession is where the rhythm comes from, the fitness comes from and you grow into things.

“For me personally, it’s great. Thiago coming back from injury, I’m sure he’d say the same thing.

“It’s been really good having him back. I think tonight was important as well with young Tyler [Morton] having Thiago and myself with a bit of experience to help him along and I thought he did really well.

“Runs in the team is what you want”

Thiago's season so far has been hindered by injury as he's missed 10 games in total so far.

And he also proved the importance of rhythm, as he scored his second ever goal for the club in the win at Anfield.
