What you'll need to fly Ryanair or Aer Lingus from Ireland this summer and how much it will cost

The Taoiseach announced last week that international travel will reopen from July 19.

But while summer holidays abroad are back on the cards, they certainly won't be the same as they used to be.

here is all you will need to know before travelling with Ryanair and Aer Lingus this summer.

At the airport

This summer, passengers travelling with Ryanair or Aer Lingus are asked to complete all the necessary forms before travel. Some countries require a passenger locator form upon arrival to be filled out.

Face masks are mandatory in the airport and onboard your flight at all times.

Some countries may require passengers to wear surgical face masks at the airport and onboard the flight. If passengers do not have a surgical face mask aboard these flights, they may be denied boarding.

Before flying, passengers are asked to download their boarding passes and choose Priority and two cabin bags to keep their luggage with them where possible.

Passengers are reminded to take their temperature before arriving at the airport. If your temperature is too high when you arrive, you may be asked to leave.

When boarding, Ryanair passengers are asked not to queue at boarding gates as priority passengers will be boarded first.

There should be no dwelling in the boarding stairwells or air bridges.

Passengers must have their passports open and boarding pass ready to be scanned to limit contact with staff.

There will be limited service onboard the flight consisting of wrapped snacks and drinks, and sales will be cashless for hygiene purposes.

Passengers will not be permitted to queue for the toilets.

When passengers land, they must keep their face masks on until they have left the airport terminal and maintain social distancing.

Refunds

Are Lingus has amended its policy surrounding changing of bookings and refunds.

Aer Lingus now offer free, unlimited changes meaning you can change your flight on any route and any fare type as often as you need up until two hours before the flight.

Passengers who choose an Advantage, Flex, Business or Business Flex fare will be granted a guaranteed voucher or cash refund if they decide not to travel.

Ryanair flights are changeable, but they cannot be cancelled.

Once a Ryanair flight is operational and has not been delayed for more than fivr hours, it is not possible to get a refund.

Cost

On top of the price of flights, most countries will require a negative Covid test.

Passengers are required to use a private test provider to get their negative Covid test.

A Vitamin D rapid tests will cost approximately €79, a general public PCR test conducted betweenMonday to Friday costs €159 and out of hours costs €240, an antigen test will cost a little less at €95.

It is important for passengers to know which test is required to travel to their holiday destination.

More information on this can be found on both Ryanair and Aer Lingus websites.
