What you can do if you hate Halloween and want to avoid it

Many of us absolutely HATE Halloween.

Some people consider themselves the Scrooge of Scary Things and would rather see the back of it.

Well, if you can't stand the trick or treaters or pumpkins, we have some helpful tips to avoid all of it, thanks to BristolLive.

Download the 'No trick or treat' poster

Simple and generally effective. Nottinghamshire police have the poster to download right here.

Lights off, Netflix on

It won't have escaped your notice that it is FREEZING outside. Temperatures are expected to be around 7 degrees tonight so what better excuse for a cosy night in?

If you don't fancy answering the door, this is the perfect time to binge on that favourite show of yours with the lights down low and curtains drawn.

Make sure you've bought in some delicious food during the day though!

This is too much for many of us (Leicester Mercury / Chris Gordon)

A bit of kitchen creativity

If you've unplugged the doorbell and vowed not to answer the door, you aren't going to risk ordering a takeaway either.

It's the perfect time to get creative in the kitchen and create something delicious. You can create enormous homemade pizzas and giant pies.

BBQ time

If you don't fancy being cooped up, then time for a last hurrah with the barbeque.

Even better if you can gather a few like-minded individuals around one of those firepits. No ghost stories though.

Let trick or treaters help themselves

If you really don't want to see ANYONE, this could be a useful tip. Not sure what happens when the bucket is empty though.

Head on out

The principle here is simple. You can't answer the door if you aren't in. There will be plenty of pubs around you not indulging in a spook-tacular, but it'd be worth doing a bit of research before hand.

Alternatively, what about catching a movie at the cinema or booking a table at your favourite restaurant?
