What will Princess Charlotte be called when she's at school?

Princess Charlotte starts school at Thomas’s Battersea this week, where she’ll be attending alongside her older brother, Prince George.

But what will her new classmates call her? Like her big brother, Princess Charlotte, 4, is likely to be known not as 'Princess' or 'HRH' but as simply Charlotte Cambridge to her new school friends and teachers.

Prince William went by William Wales in the army, while Prince Harry was Harry Wales, as their father Prince Charles is the Prince of Wales. Prince William’s title is the Duke of Cambridge.

Another surname often used by Royal Family members is Mountbatten-Windsor. "For the most part, members of the Royal Family who are entitled to the style and dignity of HRH Prince or Princess do not need a surname" the royal website states, "but if at any time any of them do need a surname (such as upon marriage), that surname is Mountbatten-Windsor."

Charlotte and George's cousin - Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, the son of Meghan and Harry - has taken this surname.

Thomas’s Battersea costs $23,000 a year to attend. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are likely to drop Princess Charlotte off on her first day of school, so expect another one of her perfect royal waves.

Prince George was previously accompanied to school by only his father, as the Duchess of Cambridge was recovering from severe morning sickness.
