What will happen to the Premier League Golden Boot if Harry Kane ends level with Mohamed Salah

The 2020/21 Premier League season draws to a close today and while there are top-four and European places up for grabs, there is also another race that needs to be settled.

That would be the Golden Boot race.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has entered the final weekend of the Premier League campaign as the joint-leading scorer alongside Liverpool's Mohamed Salah with 22 goals.

That is four ahead of their closest rival in Manchester United attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes who needs a mini-miracle to even be in the conversation come 6pm, but things could take a twist during what could be a frantic final day.

Tottenham are in action at Leicester City, Liverpool welcome Crystal Palace to Anfield and Man United are away at Wolves.

All three are expected to be in action for their respective clubs and there could be one or two interesting decisions made if a scoring chance presents itself.

But what happens if by the final whistle Kane and Salah can't be separated and Fernades scores four goals against Wolves to draw level with the pair?

Unlike other competitions, which use assists to decide who would finish with the crown, the Premier League's rules state that in the event of a tie, the award will be shared.

This has happened twice before in the competition's history.

The first time this happened was in the 2010/11 Premier League season where Manchester United's Dimitar Berbatov and Manchester City's Carlos Tevez finished top of the scoring charts with 20 goals each.

Salah was involved when it happened two seasons as he finished level with Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane and Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on 22 goals.

As it stands:

Harry Kane (Tottenham) 22 goals

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) 22 goals

Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United) 18 goals

Son Heung-min (Tottenham) 17 goals

Patrick Bamford (Leeds United) 16 goals

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton) 16 goals
