What Wilfried Zaha said about Arsenal transfer as Crystal Palace star eyes exit

Arsenal’s summer pursuit of Wilfried Zaha could be boosted by previous comments made by the Crystal Palace forward.

Zaha wants to leave Selhurst Park this summer and achieve his dream of playing regular Champions League football.

The winger has been a standout performer for the Eagles this season, notching 10 goals and 10 assists in 34 Premier League games.

He further enhanced his reputation on the final day of the season with a blistering performance against Bournemouth , playing a part in all five goals as Palace won 5-3.

Zaha has hero status in south London, having come through the ranks at the club and he returned home in 2015 following a tough spell with Manchester United .

But he has never hidden his ambition to succeed at a top European club, and has now revealed that he is ready to have a second go at making it at the highest level.

Following this latest development, Palace have slapped on £80million price tag on Zaha, who is concerned that his value may put potential suitors off.

That may put Arsenal off, with the North Londoners reportedly only willing to pay around half of that fee while the club are also ye to secure Champions League football - though they will if they beat Chelsea in the Europa League final.

However, the fact the Ivory Coast international has previously said he wanted to join the Gunners may persuade them to splash the cash.

Zaha has told Palace of his intention to depart ahead of next season (PA)

"It was always Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal in terms of where I could be going," he told The Sun ( via ESPN) ahead of making his switch to United.

“I have always supported Arsenal. I did not expect United to come in but they did.

"Arsenal are a good team but United are one of the best in the world."
