Paul Cook - the Wigan Athletic manager - has previously tipped Latics youngster Joe Gelhardt to have a "really bright future" as reports continue to link the striker with a move to Elland Road.
After securing promotion back to the Premier League a fortnight ago, Leeds United are on the hunt for fresh talent, as Marcelo Bielsa - the Whites head coach - looks to bolster his squad ahead of their return to the top-flight.
Though the transfer window has only been open a matter of days, the Whites are already being linked with a whole host of names, both domestically and abroad.
Amongst them is Wigan youngster Gelhardt, with the 18-year-old, according to BBC Sport, closing in on a switch to Elland Road, with Leeds currently locked in advanced talks over a deal.
Should the Whites be able to get a deal over the line, they will be snapping up one of the most highly-rated youngsters in English football, with the likes of Everton, Liverpool and Manchester United having been linked with him in recent months.
The England Under-18 international netted his first goal for Wigan last September in a 2-2 draw with Hull City at the KCOM Stadium and Cook, who is poised to leave his post as manager at the DW Stadium, immediately backed him to achieve great things during his career.
"I'm delighted for Joe and I'm delighted for everyone at the Academy," Cook said in September last year, following the youngster's first senior goal.
"The texts will be flying back home and the messages to Gregor Rioch, Nick Chadwick, Kenny Williams and Peter Murphy will make them all so proud tonight.
"To get on the pitch and make an impact in a game at Championship level like Joffy does, it will justify the feelings everyone has about the young man.
"He's got that special talent in football to create space in tight areas and you only have to look at his finish, the goalkeeper doesn't move.
"He's a great kid, he's a really nice young man and if he keeps working hard and keeps his head down, he's going to have a really bright future in the game."
