What West Ham's fixture list might look like if the Premier League returns in July

The Premier League has been away from our lives for three weeks now after the coronavirus pandemic meant a suspension of the competition and football at all levels.

It was due to return on April 4 but that has since been put back further to at least April 30 and to many, if not all, observers that is still wildly optimistic.

As revealed exclusively by football.london over the weekend, the Premier League is contemplating a World Cup-style end to the season over a four-to-six week period in July with games being played behind closed doors.

football.london understands that the plans were reached in a conference call between the three governing bodies and the government on Saturday and another conference call is slated for later this week.

That would effectively mean that as the 2019/20 campaign finishes, the 2020/21 season will get underway just a couple of weeks later though some allowances are expected to be made to give the players some time off in the summer.

So how would West Ham’s fixture list look should the matches be played throughout July based them on playing two games per week?

The Hammers have nine fixtures to go and that would start with the home game against Wolves which was the next scheduled match prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Here is how the full fixture list could look:

Wednesday, July 1 - Wolves (H)

Saturday, July 4 - Spurs (A)

Wednesday, July 8 - Chelsea (H)

Saturday, July 11 - Newcastle (A)

Wednesday, July 15 - Burnley (H)

Saturday, July 18 - Norwich (A)

Wednesday, July 22 - Watford (H)

Saturday, July 25 - Man Utd (A)

Wednesday, July 29 - Aston Villa (H)

The next Premier League meeting is scheduled to take place on Friday this week, where clubs could be told about a potential starting date.

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin admitted over the weekend that if league seasons didn’t restart by June then they could all be “lost.”

“We have a plan A, B or C: to restart in mid-May, in June or at the end of June,” he told La Repubblica.

“If then we wouldn’t be able to do any of these, the season would probably be lost. There is also the possibility of ending this season at the start of the next, which would then be postponed, starting a little later.”
