Manchester City's Joao Cancelo continued his red-hot start to the 2021-22 season on Wednesday night in the Champions League.
City were deadlocked 1-1 with Club Brugge at half time, with a comical own goal from John Stones cancelling out Phil Foden's opener.
However, Pep Guardiola 's side were a different animal in the second half and took the match away from their opponents with goals from Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus steering City to a 4-1 win.
While he didn't get on the scoresheet as he did in the team's 5-1 win over Brugge in Belgium, Cancelo was City's star man once again as he registered a trio of assists, with pinpoint delivery from out wide giving Foden, Mahrez and Jesus straightforward finishes.
The 27-year-old now has five goal involvements in the Champions League this season from just four games, with the trio of assists added to his two goals.
Afterwards, City fans rejoiced at Cancelo's display, with plenty picking up on the fact that after getting two assists from the left-back position, he switched over to the right flank to complete his treble.
In his first season at City, Cancelo found it tough to showcase consistency in a sky blue shirt. But now he is one of the first names on the team sheet for Guardiola.
Cancelo is equally adept playing on either flank in the full-back role and can even push into midfield when required too.
The Portuguese's creative masterclass means a win for City over Paris Saint-Germain in their next Champions League outing will be enough to box off top spot. On Saturday, he will be tasked with getting the better of compatriots Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes in the Manchester derby.
