What went on in London this week: Evita, The Standard's long summer lunch and champagne at Wimbledon

Rachel Zegler may have suffered the critics for Disney’s widely panned Snow White reboot, but she brought the house down at the London Palladium at the press night of Evita, the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. Actors Pedro Pascal, Keanu Reeves and Sarah Paulson were in the audience, as well as singer Self Esteem, fresh from Glastonbury.

Also back from Glasto to reality was Andrew Scott, who went along to the launch dinner for a new print magazine called Imagine at Bistrotheque in Hackney. Fellow thesps Yasmin Finney, Aubri Ibrag and Leo Suter were there.

Meanwhile, chief content officer of the Standard Anna van Praagh hosted an intimate summer lunch at Claridge’s restaurant, where buzzy New York mainstay Dante is having a residency. Guests included CEO of the British Fashion Council Laura Weir, Google managing director Vanessa Kingori, artist Charlotte Colbert, fashion designer Christopher Kane, Deputy Mayor for Culture Justine Simons and the Standard proprietor Evgeny Lebedev, who caught up with Charles Saatchi. Scallop ceviche, fillet steak and chocolate souffle were on the menu, while guests were sent home with Diptyque scented candles.

Over at Wimbledon, Ab Fab star Joanna Lumley traded her customary Bollinger for Lanson champagne to watch the action on centre court, while Archie Madekwe brought his Dad to the Evian suite.
